Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program available under MS-Office that allows a user to
organize data, make calculations or analysis on data and create financial reports.

Components of excel work book.
- Workbook: - A work book is an excel file. It contains a lot of worksheets where data is
entered. By default 3 worksheets appear in a work book.
- Work sheet: - A worksheet is a rectangular grid of columns and rows. A work book has
16384 work sheets. Every work sheet is page of excel work book.
- Column: - It is a vertical group of cells. A work sheet has 16384 columns. Every column
has alphabetical header A, B, C, D, ………XFD Which are called column header.
- Row: - It is a horizontal group of cells. A worksheet has 1048576 rows. Every row has
numerical header 1, 2, 3, ……1048576.
- Cell:- A cell is the intersecting area of columns and rows. Every cell has a unique name
or cell address for example A15 refers to a cell made by the intersection of ‘column A
and row 15’
- Sheet tab: - The sheet tab refers to the worksheet. By default three worksheets appear
in the excel work book, ‘Sheet1’, ‘Sheet2’, and ‘Sheet3’.
- Name box: - The name box displays the name address of the active cell.
- Formula bar: - The formula bar appears below the menu ribbon that displays the cell
entry or formula of the active cell. Cell pointer: - It looks like a rectangular box that indicates the active cell.
- Mouse pointer: - The mouse pointer looks like a symbol in work sheet area NOTE :- The Extension Of Ms excel 2007 is .xlsx and excutable file name is excel.exe.
