Word 2007 Presents a New User-Interface
The Word 2007 Window
The
Office Button The Office Button is located in
the top left-hand corner of the window and has replaced the File menu and
Tools, Options dialog box. By clicking on this button, commands previously
found in the File menu, including New, Open, Save, Save As, Print and Close can
be used.
Ribbon -
The Ribbon replaces the menu bars and toolbars from previous versions of Word.
The Ribbon keeps commands visible while you work instead of hiding them under
menus and toolbars.
The Ribbon has 3 components:
1. Tabs - There are eight task-oriented Tabs located across the top of the ribbon. Each Tab represents an activity area.
2.
Groups - Each tab has its own set of Groups that show
related items together.
3.
Command
buttons – These are buttons, boxes or menus relative to each group, e.g.
the Font Name, Font Size, Font Color, and Strikethrough buttons are in the Font
group, while Find and Replace are in the Editing group.
Dialog
Box Launcher – Some groups will have a small button in the lower
right-hand corner, indicating that there are more detailed or advanced options
available.
Quick
Access Toolbar - The Quick Access Toolbar , located next to the Office
Button, is a customizable toolbar that contains shortcuts for commonly used
tools. LPITS has provided basic tools to the Quick Access Toolbar, such as
Print, Print One Page, Undo and Redo. You have the ability to add and remove
the toolbar buttons based on your personal preferences.
Mini Toolbar – The Mini Toolbar
appears automatically when text is selected. It contains common text formatting
commands such as Font type, Font Size, Bold, etc.
Zoom
Slider – The Zoom Slider is located in the bottom-right hand corner of
the window on the status bar. This allows you to view your document at
different percentages by clicking on the plus or minus buttons or “sliding” the
zoom knob.
Document Views – There are five Document View buttons. They
are found on the status bar beside the zoom slider on the status bar. Click on
these buttons to change the Document View from Print Layout, Full Screen, Web
Layout, Outline or Draft. Your View will default to Print Layout.
Keyboard
Short Cuts - The Keyboard Short Cuts used in previous versions of Word,
such as Ctrl + S to Save and Ctrl + B to Bold are still available for use in
Word 2007.
Help
Button – The Microsoft Office Help button is the question mark located
in the top-right hand corner of the screen . Clip It and his friends are not
available in this version of Word.
By
using hyperlinks, you can provide information to your readers without
repeating the same information on different pages. To add links that jump
from one part of a document to another part of the same document, mark the
destination and then add a link to it, when user click ctrl + left mouse button
after planning the pointer at linked topic.
Spelling & grammar
This is a power full feature of MS word which
is mainly used for making an error free document, there is a dictionary known
as custom dic, which have a set of spelling and grammatical rules any line,
word, sentence.
Whenever user start typing the spelling and grammar
of written test will be automatically check if any error occur in the spelling
mistake are indicated by red color line where as grammar error are indicated by
green color.
Autocorrect page
The
auto-correct feature is also used to make an error free document.
This feature is used to get the text that is required immediately after typing the short-cut name without having a need to press any other key.
Microsoft Word has
special features called symbols in which user can insert many different
types of symbols in the
document.
THESAURUS
Using the thesaurus, you can look up synonyms (different words with the same meaning) and antonyms (words with the opposite meaning).
1.
Click the word in your document that you want to look up.
2.
On the Review tab, click Thesaurus. (OR) press Shift + f7 key
from keyboard.
3.
To use one of the words in the list of results or to search for
more words, do one of the following: To replace your selected word with one of
the words from the list, point to it, click the down arrow, and then click
Insert.
Format Painter
This facility is used to copy the
formatting effect of selected text in the document and apply it to another part
of document.
In this only the format will be copied
and not the text.
Use the Format Painter
1.
Select the text or
graphic that has the formatting that you want to copy. ...
2.
On the Home tab, click
Format Painter. ...(OR) Press Ctrl + Shift + C
3.
Use the brush to paint
over a selection of text or graphics to apply the formatting. ...
4.
To stop formatting,
press ESC.
